I just learned this week of the proposed zoning change and development. I live only 4 houses from the development site and am astonished that I received absolutely no notice of any planned activity. I understand my neighbors received notice and offered input at a recent P&Z meeting. Had I been advised of this I certainly would have attended and offered testimony. We built on Lake Hazel 18 years ago assuming that the lots and houses would set a tenor for equivalent development on the ridge from Cloverdale to Locust Grove. That has been the case until this development came up. I understand that over 100 houses will be built on the site on small lots. I have no problem with development but this entire ridge is attractive view property and should be be developed with lots of at least 3/4 acre. I believe this proposed development would reduce the value and aesthetics of the existing properties. I understand a city council meeting is scheduled for April 4. We will be out of state and not able to attend. I learned that Councilman Luke Cavener is aware of this development. Would it be possible for Colleen and I to meet with him and offer our input before we leave on March 28? We are available at most any time.
