Subject:East Ridge Estates Subdivision H-2016-0137
Dear Mayor de Weerd and members of City Council,
I know that my neighbors are writing protest letters regarding the size of the lots in the above mentioned proposed subdivisi on and, the
fact, there is no transition from the larger estates to the smaller starter homes. We totally agree with every word, so we don't need to
go into that.
An other concern is the "walking path along the creek" which is supposed to be so great. First of all, it is not a creek - it is an
irrigation ditch which will have water in it approximately six to seven months a year as the farmers need it. The developer wants to
leave it "natural" looking, which consists of sagebrush and cheatgrass. There really is no cheaper way to create open space. The
picture that we took this morning is a little deceiving, because the cheatgrass is green now, but won't be in a month or so. It will
become cheatgrass brown and highly flammable --- not a good mixture with homes.

Our level of trust with the developer was diminished when they testified to Meridian P&Z - that the group of homes along the
southeast fence line could get access to Lake Hazel when "the adjacent land becomes developed." This land is owned by our
neighbor and it IS developed. Our HOA states one home per parcel and that is exactly what they have.
The entire feel of the subdivision as it is proposed now, is to squeak by with very little cost. This definitely is not the feel of all of
the adjacent neighbors.
We are not opposed to having this land developed. Progress must go on. We are opposed to the small lot and home sizes and the
lack of nice looking, well groomed open areas and walking spaces to fit in with the existing neighborhood.
We would appreciate your consideration in denying this application as it is proposed.
Thank you,
John and Sherrie Aldape Ewing
