Subject Public Testimony for Project Verado Subdivision AZ PP H-2016-0047?
Message Dear Meridian City Council Members, I am writing as a concerned citizen of Meridian and as new
home owner. I recently purchased a home in Meridian after living in Boise for many years. I am
very proud to call Meridian my new home and am excited by the growth and development of our
city. I am deeply concerned by the proposed development for the Verado Subdivision located
directly to the side and behind my home. My husband and I have resided in our home for just over
one month and you can imagine our disappointment in learning of the proposed R15 development.
Had we known this project was to be built it may have changed our mind in purchasing a home in
Meridian. We were fully aware that the vacant lot next to our home would be improved upon at
some point. It was our understanding that compatible homes would be added to the nearby
community which would further add to our investment of a home. I would respectfully ask that the
council consider a more conservative approach to the proposed development which compliments the
surrounding R4 and R8 zones. I believe an R15 zone is too dense for the area and will impact traffic
and congestion on Locust Grove greatly. My home is located directly on an adjacent corner to this
community. I would be more than happy to sit down with the developer to come to a more agreeable
land plat than the current proposed layout. I would humbly request that this current proposal be
declined until a more compatible zoning be introduced. I living in a single story house design and
would also request that single story units only be constructed next to the nearby houses in the
Chamberlain Estates subdivision to lesson the impact on the current homeowners. I am not opposed
to development by DevCo in this area, however, I feel the current street d esign and high density R15
zoning is too abrupt of an impact for the surrounding community. Thank you for your time and
consideration. Sincerely, Celina Innocen
