Message Dear Members of the council, I am writing to make you aware of my opposition to this case number.
My wife and I bought our first home here together in Chamberlain Estates recently. We both work
and have part custody of her 11 year old daughter. When looking to buy a home we chose carefully.
Like all parents we wanted a safe and quiet sub division that she could play in. We wanted a close
knit neighborhood and we wanted to be part of a community. We chose Meridian over Boise as we
felt that it held virtues close to our own. It has the heart in its community and whilst change and
development should always be embraced it seemed a city that honored its heritage. Boise is growing
at an alarming rate so Meridian seemed the perfect PNW setting for us. Upon buying the house we
were aware development would happen and this is not a statement against change. It is a request for
something compatible with the area. when looking at the Zoning of R15 for the majority of the Sub
Division plat that is planned. It is apparent that this is NOT compatible with the surrounding homes.
That is a high density zoning and would massively impact the surrounding houses and families in a
negative manner. Our house is single level. The planned 2 level homes in the R8 lower section
means that all of the current housing in Chamberlain Estates would be over looked. Thus having an
effect on resale and value. It also is greatly going to impact our privacy. This again is not a
compatible plan for the existing neighborhoods. I suggest that all surrounding housing is single level
to afford a smooth transition between properties/neighborhoods. During the Public hearing a
comment was made by the applicant suggesting they would hide the remaining occupants land as it
was unsightly with tractors/vehicles ETC in the yard. This directly contradicts and denies Meridians
heritage of farming and hard working families that founded the the city. Where is the respect for the
people of meridian? the new developments should compliment and add to Meridians character and
allure not make it a profit turning metropolis. I respectfully ask that you do right by the people of the
City of Meridian that chose to be part of the community because of its values and density and restrict
future development to be compatible with surround housing setting the precedent for Meridians
future. Rather than allow a company to make as much money as possible at the cost to the quality of
life to those that have already invested and are living here. Kind Regards, Ben Innocent
