We appreciate you contacting us to let us know of your concerns for the proposed development in your area. I will forward your comments to our City Clerk for the public record and they will be included in the packet the Mayor and Council members receive for the public hearing. Once an application is made, Mayor and Council are only able to make comments during the public hearing. I see you have included ACHD Commissioner Kent Goldthorpe on this email and have plans to discuss your concerns with Ada County Highway District. This is a great start as they are also part of the public approval process I have copied Josh Beach, the staff member assigned to this project. He will be able to answer any questions you may have regarding the proposed development. Thank you for your comments and being part of the public process. Broadway Ave Meridian, ID 83642 2 11/18/2016 Mayor de Weerd, I am writing in regards to the proposed business development at the corners of Amity and Eagle roads (Firenze Plaza). I am a resident of the Tuscany subdivision and a parent of three children under the age of 7. The current proposal extends Mount Etna Dr. through a business development all the way to Eagle road, which raises serious safety issues as well as traffic flow concerns. My primary issue with current proposal is the direct access from subdivision into the business development. Direct access from Mount Etna into the development would most certainly increase traffic on a residential street not only from the Tuscany subdivision, but surrounding areas as well. There are many families on the street that will be negatively affected by such traffic. There are currently no less than 18 children under the age of 12 in a 2 house radius from my residence. We (the neighbors) already have submitted a request to ACHD for speed bump placement/assessment given the amount and speed of traffic on our residential street. No other business developments researched (ie Albertsons at Five Mile and Overland, etc.) have direct access to residential streets secondary to the safety concerns raised and as such we strongly oppose having such access in our subdivision. In addition to the direct traffic on our street there would be increased traffic on Montague, which is a main artery to Siena Elementary. Many children in the subdivision walk or bike to the school on a daily basis, greatly increasing the potential for an accident I would request the city review and oppose the aforementioned access into the subdivision on behalf of our residents. Many of the residents in the subdivision have contacted ACHD and the business developers to reconsider extending the street through to Eagle road. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Regards, Shane Komoda
