To whom it may concern:
We are writing in regards to the Firenze Plaza proposal. We are opposed to allowing Tuscany neighborhood
access from Eagle Road via Mount Etna. We are also opposed to neighborhood access from the proposed
grocery store.
Attached are pictures of the 2015-2016 projections for student enrollment for both high school and elementary
school for West Ada. The Tuscany neighborhood has approximately 490 elementary students and 269 high
school students. (I was unable to find middle school data, but there are several hundred as well.) These maps
provide a good perspective and comparison to other neighborhoods in regards to the number of children we
have. As a resident on Mount Etna, my son and I walk to school east on Mount Etna and then north on
Montague. The current proposal for Firenze Plaza would impact traffic dramatically. The increase in
traffic would detrimentally impact the current safe pathway to the neighborhood elementary school. With the
recent boundary changes, it was determined that all elementary students in Tuscany were within safe walking
distance and busing is not provided.
Also, there are several shopping areas nearby without neighborhood access including Walmart/Lowes by
Overland/Stoddard, Lowes by Ustick and Eagle Road, Fred Meyer at Locus Grove and Meridian, Fred Meyer at
Overland and Five Mile, Albertsons at Overland and Five Mile Rd. Please consider an approval contingent on
changes that are in line with the standard for the community.
Mount Etna was not designed to be a collector street, and I am hopeful the proposal can be amended to allow
for a resolution that is a better fit for all. Thank you for consideration in this matter.
