Broadway, Meridian, Idaho Roll -call Attendance: O Dr. Tom Hammond — Chair X Steve Turney — Vice Chair X Blaine Johnston X Dr. Frank Thomason X Carol Harms X Amber Nelson-Jerolleman 2. Adoption of the Agenda: Motion made to adopt the agenda with the continuation of Item 12a by C. Harms; seconded by Dr. F. Thomason. All ayes — agenda adopted — No further discussion. Continued from January 10, 2013: Election of Commission Chairman for 2013: Motion made to appoint Steve Turney as Chairman by B. Johnston, Seconded by C. Harms. All ayes - No further discussion — Steve Turney is 2013 Chairman. 4. Continued from January 10, 2013: Election of Commission Vice Chairman for 2013: Motion made to appoint Blaine Johnston as Vice Chairman by C. Harms, Seconded by Dr. F. Thomason. All ayes - No further discussion — Blaine Johnston is 2013 Vice Chairman. 5. Continued from January 10, 2013: Approval of the December 13, 2012 Meeting Minutes: Motion made to approve the minutes as presented by Dr. F. Thomason; seconded by B. Johnston. All ayes — minutes approved — No further discussion. 6. Approval of the Monthly Financial Statement: Motion made to adopt the financial statement by C. Harms; seconded by Dr. F. Thomason. All ayes — approved — No further discussion. 7. Current City Applications (Review and Comment: No applications to discuss Meridian Historic Preservation Commission Meeting — February 14, 2013 Page 1 of 3 All materials presented at public meetings shall become property of the City of Meridian. Anyone desiring accommodation for disabilities related to documents and / or hearings, please contact the City Clerk's Office at 888-4433 at least 48 hours prior to the public meeting. 8. Historical Society and History Center Update by Lila Hill: Lila Hill presented. A copy of the written report is on file. 9. Discussion of Upcoming Projects for 2013 a. Public Outreach: The commission confirmed the dates for all three presentations for Preservation Month 2013. The History Center's inter Rosie Nary will be contacted and will work with the City Clerk's office to draft and complete a file for the events. J. Jones will work to distribute the flyer to local schools and will ask for assistance from the Mayors Office to get the flyer out to various social media sites. b. Dairy Days— Historic Bus Tour Discussion: Commissioner Johnston commented that when he attended the tour he found it enjoyable. Lila Hill informed the Commission that due to low attendance the tour may no longer be a benefit. The Commission discussed potentially setting up a booth in Storey Park during the Dairy Days Festival to hand out materials to the community. A variety of promotional items were discussed. The Commission will discuss again in May after planning of Preservation Month is complete. c. Others: None 10. Discussion of Idaho Sesquicentennial and Event Planning a. Public Awareness and Advertising Discussion: Jacy Jones will coordinate with Mary Ann Davis from the State Historical Society to insure that the dates of the 3 presentations hosted in Meridian make it into the State's publicity material. A discussion was had regarding refreshments at the events. The Commissioners discussed serving cake, brownies, or cookies and agreed that convenience would be important in determining what to serve. B. Johnston made a motion to approve spending a not -to - exceed amount of $100.00 per event ($300.00 total) for refreshments; seconded by A. Nelson-Jerolleman. All ayes- motion passed. No additional discussion. 11. Old Business Annual Report to Council — March 12, 2013 at 3:00 PM: Commissioner Turney will provide the update to Council. Jacy Jones will make sure that a PowerPoint or script is available with highlights from 2012. 12. Continued from January 10, 2013: "Meet Me Monday" Discussion: Commissioner Harms: Continued until March 14, 2013 13. Next Meeting: Thursday, March 14, 2013 a. Discussion of Possible Meeting Topics: Commissioner Turney noted that he would be absent for the March meeting.
