President Mary Jensen called the meeting to order at 3:50 p.m. and called roll.

2. Adoption of the agenda
Dwight moved that the agenda be adopted. Nancy seconded the motion. Vote in favor
of the motion was unanimous.
3. Approval of minutes from March 14, 2013 regular meeting
Leslie moved that the minutes of the March 14, 2013 meeting be approved as written.
Dwight seconded the motion. Vote in favor of the motion was unanimous.
4. New business
a. Meridian Joint School District no. 2 Art Show.
The School District's Art Show will be on April 26, 2013, at the School District Service
Center. MAC will attend in order to award a "Best of Show" honor to one elementary,
one middle school, and one high school student's art piece. Deputy City Attorney Emily
Kane will prepare certificates and send congratulations letters to the winners with
instructions for receiving the cash award.
b. Fiscal Year 2014 Budget.
Mary asked MAC members to provide her with information to help her prepare the
FYI 4 budget.
5. Old business
a. Concerts on Broadway.
The dates of the Concerts on Broadway performances are: June 22, 2013, 7:00 p.m.:
High Street; Saturday, July 20, 2013, 7:00 p.m.: Kings of Swing; Saturday, August 10,
2013, 7:00 p.m.: Kevin Kirk & Onomatopoeia. Nancy reported that the following
sponsors have committed to providing a donation: Investment Resources of America
($1,500 -presenting sponsor); D.L. Evans, Jiffy Lube, and BenCorp; Idaho Power (would
like to sponsor the event but the amount available is unknown); and MDC (amount to
be determined). Emily reported that the concerts are on the community calendars
provided by the Idaho Statesman, KTVB, and Meridian Press. There is an ad in the
Senior News, the Valley Times, and the City Recreation Guide. Natalie will issue a
press release and she and Shelly will put the event on social media (Facebook, Twitter,
RSS, etc.). Emily reported that the temporary use permit is in place, as is the park
alcohol permit. She has contacted Republic regarding waste removal services, and the
MPD bike patrol team will be on site intermittently.
b. Meridian Split Corridor Phase 2 Public Art Project - RFP stage
Emily reminded MAC that the finalists are Joseph Castle and Marty Lyon; Delia DeLapp;
and C.J. Rench, and that their proposals are due May 13, 2013. After that, the Selection
Panel will spot-check the proposals for eligibility at a meeting on May 17. The public
viewing and comment collection locations need to be determined; Nancy stated that
they would be the library and city hall.
c. Youth art show in Initial Point Gallery, May 3 to 31, 2013
Dwight reported that he is in touch with Lois Chattin, the art teacher for Renaissance
High School. They have formulated a plan for displaying the art at the youth art show.
Dwight will work with the students to get it ready for display. Dwight will a-mail Ms.
Chattin's contact information to Emily so she can get the gallery contracts in place
before the show opens.
6. Reports, presentations, subcommittee reports, staff reports
a. Initial Point Gallery report.
Dwight reported that the current display of the work of Michael Rusnack and Tim
Murphy has been well received. Leslie reported that music in the gallery was a big hit.
It was the consensus of the commission that Leslie may rent a keyboard to provide
music at the youth art show reception.
b. Missoula Children's Theater update.
Mary reported that the MCT auditions, rehearsals, and performances went very
smoothly and MAC got good feedback for its part in that from the parents, performers,
and directors.
c. Meridian Symphony Orchestra Rising Stars concert.
Mary announced that this event will take place on April 27, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.,
Centennial High School performing arts center. The youth to whom MAC awarded the
Young Artist award will perform so all are encouraged to attend.
7. Adjourn.
Leslie moved to adjourn the meeting. Nancy seconded the motion. Vote in favor of the
motion was unanimous.
