Woodington St. 53642 Meridian, Idaho 1(208)-409- 2973 I kaylamcnay32@gmail.com I would be so thrilled to be a part of the Meridian Parks and Recreation Commission. I have been a leader and very involved in all of my past school years. I feel so lucky and grateful to be able to have this opportunity and I want to try any hardest to make Meridian even better than it already is! Leadership • I have been in multiple leadership roles. I enjoy leading mostly because I get to listen to multiple others ideas and viewpoints. I have not only led in academic areas but also in sports such as wrestling and track and anusically such as choir. I am extremely accepting of others and their ways, so I find that listening and representing a mass has been a great aspect of leading successfully. Passion • Like I said before, I am so grateful to be given this opportunity. For some, sports or music may be their passion in life, but for me it is helping any community. I would love to have this chance to share my love for my city with others and improve our parks. EXPERIENCE 2015-2016 Babysitter I have babysat for Charvel and Dave Warren for over a year now. I have loved making a connection with their children and finding fun activities for us to do together. Mayor's Youth Advisory Council (MVAC) 2015-2016 This year I began volunteering at MYAC. I was able to speak to multiple legislators in Idaho as well as specific Meridian leaders. We had multiple charity and con nunity service events that I took part of and enjoyed a great deal. 2014-2015 National Junior Honor Society (NJHS ) • I was inducted into NJHS based off of my GPA, teacher recommendations, and leadership skills. I completed a total of over 30 hours of community service while participating in NJHS at my middle school. 2014-2015 Where Everyone Belongs (WEB) • WEB was enacted just over 4 years now. We put on multiple school assemblies and events to encourage equality and mutual happiness among students. It was a great experience to be able to listen to fellow students and to find ways to make their school day more positive. I have been a leader and very involved in all of my past school years. I feel so lucky and grateful to be able to have the opportunity to apply and I want to make Meridian a wonderful environment for every child, parent, and citizen. I believe I azn qualified because I have had multiple leadership experiences in the past, and extremely about my community and genuinely care for the citizens in Meridian I have had few but meaningful involvements with business affairs. For three years, my family and I ran a car show. During that, I had to handle multiple exchanges with finances and other people. I also had a large part in my middle school's PTSO. I would often go to fundraiser inectings and volunteer with snack bars. In many of my volunteer hours, I had to be very respectful and business-like, resulting in my confidence in discussions. I have been involved in a multitude of school activities. From a young age, I was a part of Student Council, as early as 2nd grade. When introduced to the middle school, I became very active in sports, music, and especially academics. I was put into the Challenge or GT program and was in honors every year. I participated in choir, WEB, NJHS, and was the captain of multiple sports. When introduced to highschool, I began participating in Meridian Rugby, Speech and Debate, and MYAC. This year, I have focused on debate and MYAC mostly and in turd, have loved the outcomes. Because of debate, 1 have become more confident in my speaking. Lastly, with my involvement in MYAC and NJHS I have become familiar with civic events and groups. In MYAC, I participated quite a bit concerning Meridian and policies. I volunteered and events and got to speak with more of the citizens of Meridian. My experience in MYAC was amazing and I cannot wait to continue it this year. In NJHS, I completed my 30 service hours by volunteering at my local elderly home and library. I would bike there every weekday and then spend time with the elderly and young. It was very enjoyable and made ane have more compassion for others. Overall, I would love the opportunity to join the Parks and Recreation Commission. I really believe I could make this a positive atmosphere for the other members as well as Meridian itself I appreciate you taking your time to read this. Thank you. Sincerely, Kayla McNay
