A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF THE MERIDIAN POLICE
DEPARTMENT OR HIS DESIGNEE TO APPOINT EMPLOYEES OF THE MERIDIAN
POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ACT AS AUTHORIZED OFFICERS TO PERFORM THE
FUNCTION OF REMOVING ABANDONED VEHICLES PURSUANT TO IDAHO CODE
TITLE 49, CHAPTER 18; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Meridian Police Department has a program for handling
abandoned vehicles as a service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Code Enforcement Officers are trained and available to
efficiently and effectively implement this program; and
WHEREAS, Idaho Code § 49-102(18) allows the City Council to designate
authorized officers to perform the function of removing abandoned vehicles.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, IDAHO:
Section 1. That the Chief of the Meridian Police Department or his designee is
authorized to appoint employees of the Meridian Police Department to act as
authorized officers to perform the function of removing abandoned vehicles pursuant to
Idaho Code Title 49, Chapter 18.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon
adoption and approval.
