We have lived at 292 S. Ravenswood Dr. in the Greenhills Estate Subdivision
since 1991. In that time we have seen much growth along Eagle Road. In 1991,
Eagle Road had just been expanded to five lanes, with a turning lane, from the
freeway to Franklin Road. It did not take long before development had increased
traffic to the extent, that Franklin Road traffic traveling east, was using our
subdivision to by-pass the Franklin/Eagle intersection, to reach the freeway. The
Eagle/Franklin intersection was then enlarged/improved and that issue was
resolved. Ever since that time, we have seen Eagle Road enlarged/improved
clear to the town of Eagle. Numerous subdivisions and shopping areas have
been placed along Eagle road, further increasing the traffic problem that exists
today. There appears to be no limit to traffic density that ACHD thinks Eagle
Road can handle.
When we moved into Greenhills Estate, the five -acre tracts that boarder Magic
View, were zoned, agricultural. Our realtor indicated that they would never
change. That did not last very long. Since then, the Woodbridge Subdivision
has been developed. All of this placed greater pressure on the Eagle Road
connector. You are now hearing concerns from the Woodbridge residents to
ease traffic in their area. The Pope Garden development is not going to ease
any of this. Any changes to the Pope Garden proposal that are made, will not
ease traffic problems that already exists.
Greenhills Estate residents are being told that there is a need to open an access
from Magic View through our subdivision. This is being done to relieve traffic
pressure. Our area is already overly impacted and does not need more traffic
traveling through it. If there is a great need to develop an apartment complex,
there certainly must be a better location for it to be developed. The space is
there, but the infrastructure is not. This will create an additional traffic problem,
for traffic engineers, which will exceed their creativity. People that drive Eagle
Road are already pulling their hair over the apparent lack of foresight, on the part
planning and zoning commissions.
We appeal to your better judgment and ask that you deny this stage of
development, and ask ACHD to provide a better traffic solution, before you place
greater impact on the present traffic problem. It would appear to be the prudent
thing to do.
Respectfully submitted,
