RE Request_for further discussions on piping Creason Lateral at Isola Creek Sub.
Dear Becky and Mike;
I am writing this letter to request further discussions regarding the latest plans to not tile/pipe
the Creason Lateral along planned phase 4 of Isola Creek Subdivision.
As you are aware, Nampa & Meridian Irrigation District (NMID) was approached early on
about supplying the labor to the the Creason Lateral, from the end of the current pipe line
south and west to Ten Mile Road. At that time I indicated I would discuss this proposal with
the NMID Board of Directors and recommend it's authorization if the pipe was supplied for
installation..I strongly felt that this would be a very good plan for everyone involved, to head
off future problems. With the planned land use changing from Agriculture to residential
homes, a park, and pathway it will most certainly create conflicts in the future due to the
required maintenance of this irrigation canal. Tiling the canal would eliminate many of these
potential conflicts.
At a meeting held on April 25, 2016 with the City Staff, a plan was proposed to move the
pathway closer to the District's Five Mile Drain. At that time, it was relayed to me that the tiling
of the east -west section of the Creason would not be going forward; I was disappointed to
hear that the former plans had changed.

Soon after my meeting with the City, I was contacted by an agent of the developer and they
indicated they too were discouraged by the latest plan to eliminate this section of tiling as
well. They also feel that placing the canal underground would create a cleaner design and
head off potential problems between the development, and our efforts to maintain the
irrigation canal.
At this time I would like to ask that the City reconsider the plans to the/pipe the Creason
Lateral along the east -west routing to Ten Mile Road. I would be more than happy to meet
with you and discuss this issue.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter and please feel free to contact me at any time.
Sincerely,
Greg G. Curtis
