As a resident of the City of Meridian and of Woodbridge Subdivision, i am adamantly
opposed to the rezoning of the 5.28 acres from its current designation as "Office" to
"Medium High Density Residential" as referenced above for multiple reasons. This
would be a huge increase in designated usage, not just a slight increase.
First, we the citizens of Meridian relied upon the past designations of our City in
selecting our current residences and we put our trust in your word and that of the P !_t
Z Commission. Now we feet that once you have us on the tax rolls, you no longer
have our best interest in mind.....we hope you didn't deceive us intentionally?
Because it appears that after giving us a master zoning plan...—you change it at almost
a 100% rate when someone requests more use and it results in more taxes for the City.
That is disgusting and atrocious! You do have a duty to your citizens in applying
consistency in utilizing the master plan and its stated objectives.
Secondly, E. Woodbridge Drive, S. Thornwood Way and E. Bowstring Street are
serpentine residential streets, never meant for high volume traffic with tight corners
and low visibility at each one, along with children playing adjacently and senior
citizens crossing them without crosswalks designated.... nor any traffic lights. Look
anywhere else where higher traffic volume was intended and you will find straight
streets with great visibility the length of them and appropriate crosswalks designated
along with traffic control signs and devices.
We have a great amount of vehicle and commercial vehicle use currently from all of
the medical and professional businesses along Magic View and its ancillary connecting
streets. And yes, those employees and the hundreds of patients/ customers soon learn
that they can avoid Eagle Road and cut and speed through our neighborhood to
connect to Locust Grove and Franklin and Overland Roads. Magic View should be
blocked off to prevent this and additional future heavier use to protect our
neighborhood and the residential families of its serpentine streets, regardless of
future additional use.
Lastly, in addition to our high street traffic volume, the schools of this area,
particularly the elementary level, cannot tolerate the additional volume of students
this type of housing would require and maintain any type of reasonably sized (teacher
to student ratio) classrooms. The City also has a great responsibility to us in this
regard for our student/children and citizens.
Therefore, I respectfully ask you to consider the foregoing and after weighing your
responsibilities to your current citizens, reject this request and continue the current
zoning on this 5.28 acre parcel.
