PETITION TO DENY APPLICATION H-2016-0006
To change 5.28 acres from Office (RUT) to Medium High Density (R f ) - OF - r6RJ .
,CITY CLERKS OFFICE
The undersigned citizens respectfully petition the Meridian City Council to deny the request
by Iron Mountain Real Estate to change zoning of the 5.28 acre lot along Magic View Drive
from Light Office(RUT) to Medium High Density (R-15).
We oppose this zone change for the following reasons:
-Traffic: The streets and residential design through Woodbridge cannot safely handle
the cut through traffic it now experiences. Medium High Density will increase cut through
traffic. Located between heavily traveled Eagle road and Locust Grove cut through traffic has
become heavy on our residential streets. Apartment traffic would cut through on the way to
Winco,Home Depot, the new dog park, and even to Nampa.
Safety: Because backyards are small in Woodbridge, children often play, run, and bike
on the cut through roadways. There are several school bus stops on the streets and children
are already experiencing near misses by cars cutting through and not obeying speed limits. In
summertime children walk to our pool often crossing Woodbridge Drive, which only has a
sidewalk on one side.
Environment: Both Woodbridge and Greenhill subdivisions have enticing walking paths
and parks, including a pool designed for resident use. Residents pay fees for use and
maintenance of these amenities. Trespassing has already increased as traffic thru these areas
has increased. Proximity will increase visibility and desire to access amenities, but will not be
supported by this development. Our wildlife has been effected too. Duck and Quail
populations are declining.
We ask that the City of Meridian protect our small oasis in middle of bustling thoroughfares
by denying zoning changes which threaten our subdivision.
