The Contractor is hereby directed to make the following changes from the Contract Documents and Plans.
Description:
REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF BACKFILL MATERIAL ON FIRST 600' OF TRENCH ON
NORTH END OF PROJECT. ADDITIONAL PIT RUN, GEOGRID AND FABRIC FOR THE
ROADWAY SECTION FOR STABILITY.
Reason for Change Order:
NATIVE BACKFILL MATERIAL LIES IN HIGH GROUNDWATER AND IS DIFFICULT TO REACH
COMPACTION PER SPECIFICATION. AN ADDITION OF 22 INCHES OF PIT RUN MATERIAL IS
BEING INCLUDED IN THE ROADWAY SECTION FOR A TOTAL DEPTH OF 48 INCHES FOR A
WIDTH OF 24 FEET AND A LENGTH OF 1750 FEET. A LAYER OF FABRIC AND GEOGRID IS
ALSO BEING ADDED BETWEEN THE BOUNDARY LAYER BETWEEN THE NATIVE BACKFILL
AND ROADWAY SECTION. THIS MODIFIED ROADWAY SECTION WILL REDUCE THE CHANCE
FOR DIFFERENTIAL SETTLEMENT OF THE ROADWAY AROUND THE UTILITIES.
