The Project Name for this Task Order 1234 is as follows: CITY OF MERIDIAN HEADWORKS BUILDING - GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATIONS PROJECT UNDERSTANDING Materials Testing and Inspections will provide geotechnical investigations and recommendations for this project.. SCOPE OF WORK The subsurface investigation will be conducted to provide information needed in the site development and design of the proposed project. The project is expected to consist of construction of a new headworks facility for the waste water treatment plant. Revisions may be required based on final design requirements. In accordance with your request our proposed subsurface exploration will include the following services: • As requested by CH2M Hill, two (2) borings will be advanced to depths of 40 feet. The borings will be located on the east and west sides of the proposed building location. All data obtained will be recorded in the field and referenced to boring Task Order 10044.B Headworks Building - Geotechnical Investigations Page 1 of 3 MATERIALS TESTING & INSPECTION number. Soil will be classified in the field logs in accordance with applicable ASTM standards and other standards, including, but not limited to, ASTM standard D2488. The classification for final logs will be based on field information, results of laboratory tests, and further inspection of samples in the laboratory. A chart illustrating the soil classification criteria and the terminology and symbols used on the logs will be provided. • ASTM standards or other recognized standard sampling and test methods used will be identified. • A plot plan giving approximate locations of borings will be provided. • Start and finish dates, soil horizon description and thickness, and, where applicable, groundwater data and subsurface profile of rock will be provided. Location of strata containing organic materials, wet materials, or other inconsistencies that might affect engineering conclusions will be noted. • A description of the existing surface conditions and a summary of the subsurface conditions will be provided. • All laboratory determinations of soil properties will be reported. Exploration and recommendations will be prepared under the supervision of a registered professional engineer and registered professional geologist. A geologist, engineer, or qualified soils technician will perform all fieldwork. Digline services will be contacted to locate peripheral utility lines. The owner or owner's representative will be responsible for mark -out or identification of private utilities (lighting power, irrigation lines, etc.). MTI will not begin exploration until released by the client — signifying mark - out or identification has been completed. MTI cannot be held responsible for the cost of replacement of utilities. Borings will be backfilled at completion of our exploration. Surfaces will be left in a rough but relatively level condition. Costs can be determined, at this time, for additional dressing if required.
