I will forward your comments to our City Clerk for the record and to be included in the packet the Mayor and Council members receive for the public hearing. Once an application is made, Mayor and Council are only able to make comments during the public hearing. I have copied Josh Beach, the staff member assigned to this project. Dear Mayor and Council Members, I am writing to express my family's opposition to the proposed amendment to the Recorded Development Agreement (DA) (Instrument #114014784) for the Purpose of Incorporating a New Concept Plan, Building Elevations and Certain Provision of the Development Agreement related to the Knighthill Center Apartments. My family strongly opposes another multi-level apartment complex adjacent to our neighborhood for the following reasons: 2 1. Considering the number of residential units already established in Lochsa Falls and the neighborhoods adjacent to Lochsa Falls (Paramount, Bridgetower, Silver Leaf, Kelly Creek), our area of Meridian is already densely saturated with residential properties. 2. The developments that have already been approved by the City for this area will already put additional strains on an infrastructure that is not ready for them. 3. Our schools are already bordering over-crowding. 4. The major thoroughfares (Linder, Chinden, McMillan and Ten Mile) are only one lane in each direction. East-bound morning traffic already backs up from Eagle Road to beyond Linder. And West-bound evening traffic is even worse, resulting in several recent major accidents along Chinden. Adding extra traffic congestion will result in longer commute times and more accidents. 5. Long Lake is not an acceptable exit and entrance point for new developments. It is already unsuitable for the current level of traffic during commute hours due to the fact that Challenger School patrons must use it as their entrance and exit point. 6. Multi-level residential units directly behind homes in our subdivision will decrease the value of those homes, which in turn, when used as comps, will negatively affect the value of surrounding homes. I have also signed our HOA's petition opposing this amendment. I plan to attend in-person tonight, and I would ask that you please remember that you are accountable to your constituents in Meridian and not a developer from Eagle. Please do not approve this amendment. Thank you! Best regards, Ray
