We appreciate you contacting us to let us know of your concerns for the proposed changes to the development agreement for the Knighthill project. I will forward your comments to our City Clerk for the record and to be included in the packet the Mayor and Council members receive for the public hearing. Once an application is made, the Mayor and Council can only make comments during the public hearing process. I have copied Josh Beach, the staff member assigned to this project. He will be able to answer any questions you may have regarding the Modification of the Development Agreement or the hearing. Thank you for your comments and being part of the public process. My Best, Mayor Tammy Sent from my iPhone On Feb 28, 2016, at 1:11 PM, DON STRICKLER < stricklerd@msn.com > wrote: Hello, We are writing you to express our opposition to the proposed special condition (rezoning) at the corner of Chinden and Linder, to allow apartments to be constructed. 2 We are homeowners in the adjacent Lochsa Falls subdivision, and have been Meridian residents since 1994. We oppose the apartments for the following reasons: • The land parcel in question has been zoned Commercial with the prohibition of any apartments since 2006. We don't agree with changing the zoning to benefit one individual (the developer), to the detriment of many other Meridian residents (nearby homeowners.) The proposed change would go against the zoning that has been in place for many years, while many homeowners have constructed homes with the expectations that the zoning would be enforced. • Other apartments nearby already meet the multi-family housing needs in the area. • The proposed change does not align with the City of Meridian's Comprehensive Plan. • Property values in our subdivision will be reduced if the proposed change is approved. Many residents purchased homes in the subdivision knowing the 10-year plan did not allow for apartments on this parcel. • Multi-family housing will add more students to already over-crowded schools. • If the proposal passes, it violates the trust that homeowners and taxpayers have with the City Council and their zoning decisions. We urge you to deny the proposed change. Best regards, Don Strickler Shawnna Strickler
