Subject: Amendment Hearing for Knighthill Center Apartment Development, March 1st
Dear Meridian City Council Member:
My spouse and I are among the many original 700 Single Family Homeowners in the Lochsa Falls subdivision who
oppose amending the MDA Agreement of 2006 for the property owner of the south west corner of Chinden and
Linder to construct a multi -family apartment complex (Knighthill Center Apartments) adjacent to our
subdivision.
The building of multi -family units was specifically prohibited by this Agreement, that we relied upon when we made our
investment in a custom built home in an exclusive suburban setting.
We believe that if the Council were to grant such an amendment to the Agreement of 2006, that it would breech our trust
and reliance on the City's Planning and Zoning Department, on which we based our decision to invest. We believe that
the consequences of passing this amendment for multi -level, higher density housing will alter growth patterns in the
immediate area, resulting in significant negative and financial consequences for us and the City, such as:
• Over burden schools, produce less revenue for the city, and require more infrastructure support.
• Create traffic congestion, parking problems and view obstruction
• Create a substantial risk of devaluing the investment in our homes.
As a member of the Meridian City Council, we respectfully ask you to consider the negative impact that this will have on
our subdivision's homeowners and our trust in the City's representation upon which we relied. Please vote NO on the
Amendment.
Thank you,
George and Frances Olsey
