City Of Meridia;,
City Clerk Office
We would like to have some questions answered about the P-Z meeting which took place on April
29, 2004 at Meridian City Hall.
First of all, I would like you all to know that we were treated rudely. The P-Z committee members
were very unprofessional in behavior. Also, the "attorney" sat up front eating with food sticking out
of his cheeks looking like a chipmunk.
Why did P-Z pass this subdivision when only one person present was in favorof this proposal? I
also know for a fact that P-Z received letters that stated a position against this proposal. We, the
people, were not heard. Also, we felt that the decision had already been made before we arrived.
There were absolutely no concessions given to us.
City of Meridian states on the future land use map that the zoning can only be changed one step. It
states it clearly on that map. But, Wendy Kirkpatrick of P-Z gave some sort of a
rambling explanation that didn't explain a thing. Yet, this subdivision jumped from R-4 to R-15.
Would you please look into this?
Shortly before the future land use map passed, a group of residents from Running Brook Estates and
Meridian Greens came to the council and expressed concerns concerning a piece of property located
in Block 19, located in the upper left comer--Yellow--with horizontal lines. We were assured by city
council and P Z that nothing could be built on this piece of land because of the easements and other
regulations, but now an Alzheimer's unit is being planned in this section of land. Is there any way to
go back into those notes and look up exactly what was said? Where would we go to get those
minutes? I do not remember the date of that meeting, but it was one of the last ones concerning the
future land use. Sherry Stiles and Brad (?) were the ones addressing this issue.
We feel frustrated and would like your help. Something just doesn't seem right about the way this
was passed with total disregard to the wishes of the land owners that border this properly and other
residents of Running Brook and Meridian Greens.
Please help us.
Thank you,
Blaine and Mary Jane Bennett
