My husband Robert and I live at 2866 S. Nephrite Way in Meridian. Nephrite Way intersects with Easy Jet and would be severely impacted by the proposed Easy Jet Project before you tonight on the agenda. I am an apartment house building manager in Boise, Idaho. I am very well aware of the mindset and lifestyle of apartment dwellers . They are not lessor people nor do I intend to demean them in any way. Having said that, they are quite simply at a different place in their lives (in general). They are often much younger, much more mobile and active in their lifestyle than the somewhat older generation of home owners that comprise Sutherland Farm and Sutherland Downs subdivisions. For the homeowner, we have invested our entire life's work into our homes and chose this subdivision for the quiet quality of life that this area provides. We pay a lot of property taxes, care for our homes with continual maintenance issues and homeowners insurance. These are foreign obligations to apartment dwellers. We enjoy walks in the evenings to our little park, which we maintain. The impact to our community would be severe to place an apartment complex of this size. This project would be heavily loaded with young people, young families and yes....college students. They are just starting out in life and quite simply have a different mindset than that of the established homeowner. The impact on traffic on Easy Jet and Eagle Rd, the affected schools, our property values and life in general in this area would be negatively impacted. Please think of us, as well as this developers bank account. We fully realize that this piece of property will be developed. However, I strongly urge you deny or drastically limit the impact of this project on all of the surrounding subdivisions. Sincerely, Robert and Glenda Morton.
