Subject: Dec. 1st City Council Meeting on the Easy Jet Subdivision
As a resident of Sutherland Downs, I would like to express dismay regarding the deceptive misinformation my
husband and I were given at the Meridian Zoning and Planning office eight years ago regarding the vacant land
on Easy Jet and Eagle Road when we were considering the purchase of our home at 3393 E. Yestemight St. We
were told it was zoned R4. At the recent Planning and Zoning meeting we both attended last month, we found
out that we were misled. There is simply no excuse for that type of deception.
Also, as a community, we did not object to the office buildings on the north side of Easy Jet, nor did we object
to the construction of a storage facility that backs up to our Sutherland Downs neighborhood. But the proposed
multiple apartments, including 3 -story structures directly across Easy Jet from our home creates several
concerns. We would like to express two of those concerns in particular:
1. The number of parking spaces proposed for this project, even though within code specifications, will most
certainly be inadequate. Once an apartment is leased, and without on -sight property management to monitor the
number of residents per apartment, there will likely be more cars per unit than planned and this will precipitate
overflow onto adjacent streets. This will precipitate a safety hazard for children walking to and from school and
the park, and also interfere with mail delivery and trash pick up.
2. The recommendation by the Commissioners was to reduce the (2) 3 -story buildings to 2 -stories to be more
congruous with the surrounding single-family homes in the neighborhood and also not add any additional
buildings. We hope the City Counsel will honor that unanimous recommendation.
