Subject: Proposed zoning change to Easy Jet and Eagle vacant property
To the Meridian City Clerk and City Council,
I would like to go on record as opposing any development that would be 3 stories tall at the intersection of Easy Jet and Eagle. A
development of this magnitude is of grave concern to my property on the north side of Easy Jet.
It is my understanding JUB (developer) has filed to change the zoning density and intends to build 3 story apartments and small commercial
buildings on the lot. In the last city meeting with residents on 15 -Oct, it was the Commission's recommendation, after hearing the residents'
concerns, to allow no more than 2 story units, and reduce the units by 16, to a new total of 48 units in the same footprint on the vacant lot on
the southeast corner lot at the intersection of Easy Jet and Eagle Road.
The Planning Commission recommendations are acceptable, but want to state I am opposed to any increase in density above this
recommendation in an already congested area of single family homes and small businesses and solicit the City Council to reject the
developer's proposal.
Also, I want to ensure this propose development has parking, green space, noise management and minimization of road congestion that meet
City of Meridian ordinances along Easy Jet. What assurances do we have that this developer and its future residents will not be counting on
using the green -space in Sutherland Downs? We paid a premium in our subdivisions lot costs, and continue to pay in irrigation and
maintenance costs. If others from a high density apartment complex across the street are allowed to access and use this space, it is an unfair
burden for those residents.
I want to go on record objecting to this significant increase in density and skyline impact less than one block from where I live. When I
purchased my house, the City of Meridian said this was zoned as R4, not near the density, nor height of building, that is being proposed.
Best regards,
Michael Wheeler
