Subject: Easy Jet Subdivision
To Meridian City Council:
We live within 300 feet of the proposed development of the southeast corner of Eagle Road and Easy Jet.
Having reviewed the proposal we wrote to the Planning and Zoning Commission this summer expressing
several concerns about it.
Our two main concerns are 1) The massive increase in density proposed for this property compared to its
current zoning is way out of proportion to the surrounding properties. We question the legality of the huge
increase in density. 2) Three-story apartments are also incompatible with the surrounding properties.
Combined, we believe these two issues will negatively and needlessly impact our neighborhood (Sutherland
Downs) and our larger community (Sutherland Farm).
Though we prefer ever greater modifications, we feel the recommendations of our city's Planning and Zoning
commission to modify the plan as submitted are reasonable. However, as of four days prior to the hearing
before the City Council we have seen no modified plans concerning this project. Therefore we urge you to
reject this project unless and until (at a minimum) the owner and JUB Engineers comply with all the
recommendations of Planning and Zoning. We who will be negatively affected by this development deserve
the opportunity to review any changes to the plans prior to their official consideration by our City. If the plans
are not scaled back, they need to be rejected entirely. If they are scaled back, we need time to review them.
Thank you for your work on behalf of Meridian.
Sincerely,
James J. Harris
