Subject: Easy Jet Subdivision Development Application
I am a homeowner with property located in the Sutherland Downs Subdivision. I reviewed the proposal
for the Easy Jet Subdivision development and attended the Planning and Zoning Meeting in October to
bring forth objections on the proposed plan.
I purchased my home in 2006 and selected this neighborhood for the privacy, amenities and accessibility
it offers. The surrounding areas offer pleasant views and walking paths along the canal and adjoining
park. I believe that rezoning the property at Easy Jet and Eagle Road to R-15 will adversely impact the
neighborhoods and decrease property values as well as the quality of life for the residents.
I strongly oppose building a 3-story apartment building as it will be out of place in a residential
neighborhood comprised of one and two story homes. There is a similar development, Heron Village,
off Meridian Road that reflects how tall and unattractive this development will be. Also, there is no way
of restricting the tenants of those apartments using our common areas and the amenities paid for by
our HOA. There will be an increase in traffic on Easy Jet as well as parking on the surrounding streets.
I support developing a much lower density of multi-family homes or townhomes that are owned
individually so they have pride in their homes as well as the surrounding developments. Meridian is
growing so rapidly that the surrounding infrastructure and schools cannot keep up. The City Planners
and City Council need to control the growth and locate the higher density dwellings toward the central
areas with walking access to public transportation, shopping and work. Let's make Meridian the best
City for our future.
Sincerely,
Lawney Lovell
