NOTE: The 8 inch hydrant and fire service line is on a dead end. This service shall be
looped or the fire service line routed separately back to the 12 inch loop.
Fire Flow and Fire Hydrant Information:
1. The minimum required fire flow is 1,500 gallons per minute with a 20 -pound residual
pressure for two hours. The Development Services Analyst will verify the available fire

4. Deferred Submittals: Provide one set of plans and specifications for the fire alarm system in
accordance with the 2009 IFC 907.1. The fire alarm plans included in this submittal were not
reviewed nor are they approved for installation. The fire alarm panel was shown on the
second floor storage room. If the voice evacuation panel/main panel are located in that
location there shall be a remote microphone at the main entrance. Approval of the fire alarm
system will be provided after review/approval of the shop drawings and specifications. The
design and installation shall be in accordance with the 2009 IFC 907 and 2010 NFPA-72 —
National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code. Prior to commencing the installation of the fire
alarm system, a permit shall be obtained from the Meridian Building Department. The permit
fee is $4.25 per device with a minimum fee of $150.00. (2009 IFC 901.2)
The fire alarm system will have emergency power from an on-site generator on the east side
of the building. The generator must be approved for use prior to occupancy. It will require a
full load test and test of the transfer switch. The field inspector will witness the tests.
6. Deferred submittals: Provide two sets of plans and specifications for the automatic sprinkler
system and submit them to the Meridian Building Department. The FDC shall be located
within 100 feet of the nearest hydrant. All work, including the underground supply main for
the sprinkler system shall be conducted by a contractor licensed by the Idaho State Fire
Marshal's Office. The installation shall meet the applicable requirements including but not
limited to 2009 IFC Section 903 and NFPA-13 2010 — Sprinkler Systems (IDAPA -18

7. The elevator shall be sized to accommodate an ambulance stretcher 24 inches by 84 inches
with not less than 5 inch radius corners. The car shall be identified with the emergency
services star of life with the symbol placed on both sides of the hoistway door frame.

8. All exit doors shall have panic hardware. All doors shall be openable from the egress side not
requiring keys or special knowledge or effort. (2009 IFC 1008.1.10 and 1008.1.9)
9. All exits shall have emergency discharge lighting. The locations of the emergency lights and
exits sign are approved — exception: provide emergency lighting in the office hallway #223.
Final approval of emergency lights will be provided after an inspection when substantial
construction is completed. The emergency lighting and exit signs shall meet the illumination
and performance standards of the 2009 IFC Sections 1006 and 1011. 819 — Call for
inspector to review location of exit signs after substantial construction is complete to
review locations. Additional signs may be required.
10. There is a Type I kitchen hood as part of this permit. The hood will require an automatic fire
extinguishing system. Submit plans and specifications for this permit to the building
department. This will require monitoring by the fire alarm control panel. Provide the air
balance certification at time of the operational test of the extinguishing system. The
mechanical system must comply with the engineers specifications prior to approval.
Activation of the system will shut down the fuel to all appliances under the hood, make-up
air, and lights. The exhaust fan shall remain on upon activation. (2009 IFC 904.2 and 904.11)
11. Post the maximum occupant load sign at the main entrance. The sign shall be durable stating
the maximum occupant load of: Ifi% 1569 (2009 IFC 1004.3)
12. Provide additional occupant load signs for the following rooms: combined occupant load for
the Family Dining/Sports Bar; Family Dining; each Private Party Room and a total if the all
partitions are opened; second floor Lounge.
13. The Electrical, Mechanical and Fire Riser room doors shall be permanently identified with
one -inch letter signs. Provide a sign on the door (#205) to the roof ladder - Roof Access.

14. The fire alarm control panel shall monitor the duct smoke detectors for HVAC shutdown.
Approved access panels shall be provided for inspection and maintenance of all duct smoke
detectors. The sampling tubes shall be installed to manufacturer's installation instructions.
Access shall be provided for testing of the smoke detector. (2006 IFC 907.4. 1)

17. Meridian requires fire extinguishers complying with 2009 IFC 906. The spacing of the
extinguishers in this submittal appear to be over spaced. They shall have a minimum rating of
2A-1OBC; current service tags from a fire extinguisher company and installed in an
accessible and visible locations. Mount the fire extinguisher at a maximum height of 48
inches above the floor to the top of the handle of the fire extinguisher. Travel distance not to
exceed 75'. Provide a K class fire extinguisher in the kitchen area. Field inspector can verify
the location based on equipment layout. (2009 IFC 906.1— 906.9)
18. Provide 12 inch address numbers, contrasting in color and visible from Eagle Road. (2009
IFC 505.1)
19. Final approval of the project will be provided after the completion of all inspections and
testing. (2009 IFC 104)
20. The "Construction Inspection Record" shall remain on-site at all times.
21. The contractor shall be responsible for applicable requirements of the 2009 IFC Chapter 14:
Fire Safety During Construction and Demolition.
22. Contact the Meridian Building Department at 887-1155 to schedule all inspections.

23. This review is limited to the information submitted on the plans. Construction documents
approved by the fire code official are approved with that such construction documents
comply in all respects with this code. Review and approval by the fire code official shall not
relieve the applicant of the responsibility of compliance with this code. (2009 IFC 105.4:4)
