(HYDROGEOLOGIST) This Task Order is issued by Owner and accepted by the Hydrogeologist pursuant to the mutual promises, covenants and conditions contained in the Agreement between the above named parties dated February 18, 2008. CITY OF MERIDIAN WELL #16 WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENTS The Hydrogeologist's scope of services, time of completion and compensation shall be as set forth herein. Services shall generally be described as Hydrogeological Consulting Services per the Consultant's proposal dated February 14. 2008. TASK 1.1 — ELIMINATION OF ENCRUSTATION, DISSOLVED URANIUM, AND SAND PRODUCTION FROM MERIDIAN MUNICIPAL WELL No.16 Dissolved concentrations of the element uranium, slightly above the maximum contaminant level (MCL) set by State and Federal agencies, have been observed in Meridian municipal supply Well #16. The aging well has also been found to have thick encrustation from iron -consuming microbes along with natural fine-grained sand - production from the completion interval f the well. These conditions, left alone, would soon render the Well #16 unusable by the City for the upcoming peak water demand season. In a previous evaluation of the well by Hydro Logic, Inc., it has been determined that all three conditions could be resolved by 1) removal of the encrustation by scraping, brushing, and bailing, 2) arresting the sand production by swab -surge development of the well screens, and 3) modification of the well's construction by the installation of a sealed liner to occlude uranium -laden ground water from the well. The Owner will provide access to conduct the work and City Water Department staff will assist with sampling and pumping of the Well #16. Hydrogeologist will design and oversee the cleaning of the well, the well development procedures, and the modification of the well construction for the City including down hole inspection with an underwater camera. Hydrogeologist will work with Water Department staff to manipulate the pumping and sampling of the well and provide operational guidelines for the well to be brought back into production for the 2011 peak production season. Hydrogeologist will develop a technical memorandum with the study's findings, conclusions, recommendations, and options available to the City for the Well #16 facility. Hydrogeologist will work closely with the City's Public Works Department and the Water Department to accomplish the stated goals. TIME OF COMPLETION It is understood that this is an emergent situation that requires resolution in as short a time frame as possible. Hydrogeoiogic services for this project can be made available as soon as the City gives its approval. It is anticipated that the Well #16 can be back on line and a final report delivered to the City by the end of May, 2011, COMPENSATION The Not -To -Exceed amount for this Task Order No. 10205G is twenty three thousand five hundred dollars ($23,500.00). The hourly rate for services and direct expenses is attached (Prevailing Fee Schedule Effective January 1, 2011) as Exhibit A and by this reference made a part hereof.
