September 12, 2019 Meeting Minutes 4.New Business [Action Item] A. Accession/Deaccession Policy Review and Discussion Emily gave presentation of policy and answered questions from the commission ; next step would be to make a motion recommending city council adopt this policy via resolution. Jessica: Public art plan will also address wrapping and rewrapping traffic boxes (to follow up with conversation from last month’s meeting) Ginny made motion to present to council for acceptance (/) B. Meridian Symphony 30th Year Anniversary Gala David Stolhand presentation: Discussion of having event in Initial Point Gallery and new leadership coming into office. Logistics of the actual event discussed. Accept if allowed inside IPG (LS/JP) 5.Old Business [Action Item] A.Traffic Box Art Update: Ian Lawson Sponsorship Adrienne gave update on Meridian Road/Woodbridge/Blue Heron, suggest that location and see if he likes this location. Also let Ian know he is welcome to wait for the expiration of the traffic box but the responsibility would be on him to follow up with MAC to sponsor. Note that same piece would not be wrapped twice. Option A: Wait until 2021 for ideal location. Option B: Accept newly proposed location at Heron. Option C: Choose to wrap available box and come back in 2021 to sponsor preferred box with another piece of art. Option D: Choose to 2/2 have sponsorship refunded. Adrienne will contact Ian to relay this information and report back to commissioners via email regarding outcome/Ian’s decision. 6.Reports A. Strategic Plan Adoption Update Leslie thanked the commission for their hard work on getting the strategic plan done. Also noted while in council was the mention of diversity and the importance of diversity in art. Jessica discussed attending meetings with the city regarding diversity and encouraged all commissioners to get involved with those meetings. 7.Next Meeting: November 14, 2019 8.Adjournment – Meeting Adjourned at 4:31 p.m. (JP/GH) All materials presented at public meetings shall become property of the City of Meridian.
