I attended followup presentations by the developer and can tell you that the these requests should be denied without further delay. The presentation offered the audience a glance at two options that were designed to deceive the crowd. They simply ignored the fact that the increase in apartment units would further clog the streets of Movado Way and Overland road. Not to mention the degree of safety being compromised for the enrichment of others, including the children who will have be bused elsewhere. The School district cant even accommodate the current growth and told you in writing. There is already limited green space.Where would the children play? Surely not on Overland. The few new residents of the Greens are already complaining of parking problems. The overflow will leach onto Movado Way where there was almost a school bus accident already! Don't add more residents and children to an already bad situation. It will be too late to say we (the City of Meridian) "should have listened to the residents of the Village and their neighbors" when the headlines talks about the recent death of a child near the intersection while walking home from the bus stop. Or the firetruck or ambulance that was delayed precious minutes while trying to navigate the roads that are overcrowded with the cars from the expansion the City approved....for what? The benefit of a local builder with out of state investors to please?? They are all about the dollar, not the people, not the children, not the City and will be long gone after the money is made and problems build. While we were at the meeting, the Developer said he would listen to us, If we didn't want it, he would walk away! We all said "walk away", but he didn't. I am sure he will be in front of you soon telling you what a great job he will do. How "nice " it will look.... Home values will go down. I built here because I wanted to be local, to be a part of a high quality community. I really don't want to leave, but will. Others are already listing their homes for sale. More will follow if the sprawl is allowed to continue. PLEASE STOP THIS AND SAY NO!! The City of Meridian must do the responsible thing and say NO! Keep the City of Meridian a desired destination, not one to avoid. I want to be proud to live here. Focus on the downtown.. We want Meridian the be the real Gem of the greater Boise area, not an overcrowded declining almost was great city.... Thank you for listening. I hope you hear us! We live off of Movado Way and believe that there will be significant negative impact associated with increased traffic, condensed population, increased crime, and negative appearances of the neighborhood. This will have a dramatic negative effect on property value. It should be known that prior to purchasing our dream home at the Village of Movado, our decision was based on the current plans in place and that our decision would have been different had we known about the potential for apartment homes. The amendments and modification requests do not provide any benefit to the current citizens and only benefit the builders and developers who will be long gone when its done... Even the City of Meridian will be a loser in the long run. It is the duty and responsibility of the City of Meridian to protect its residents from planning changes that will negatively impact the neighborhoods that we have strategically chosen as our home. I am sure that many of us would have looked elsewhere if we had known of the proposed changes when we purchased our homes. Please do NOT let this happen. We really need the City of Meridian to step up and protect its citizens. Do not contribute to the demise of the City, but rather take a stand and make this a place where people want to live and not a place where we decide enough is enough and move elsewhere. To date, the City appears to be diligent and careful in its thinking about growth. Please continue in that regard. Do let this become a second class, second chance city, but rather a first class city. Make it a desired location! As such, please make it known that we strongly oppose these modifications and respectfully request the City of Meridian to deny the Development Agreement Modification and Conditional Use Permit ( File # H-2019-0099 and # H - 2019-0104). These requests need a NO vote and should be DENIED without further debate. Respectfully, Robert and Barbara Spryn / 2052 S Gedalio Ln. / Meridian Idaho 83624
