Congested traffic brings flaring tempers which cause unsafe driving; people taking chances they would not normally take, speeding when given the chance, honking horns and base language. All these maladies that now occur on a daily basis were not known of in years past. We look to you, our elected officials, to protect our way of life and make good decisions understanding how your decisions affect each man, woman and child. Placing 88 more units over the 112 units you have already approved of two and three story apartments does not seem a very wise decision on the part of city officials due to the traffic bottleneck it will cause. Aesthetics are an important aspect to all homeowners . We all want the areas where we live to be pleasing to the eye and be a sound financial investment. The homeowners in Movado will find that their life savings investments in their homes will not increase but will decline with the increased traffic . This is in contrast to the the minimum investment apartment dwellers have to make for their dwellings. The increased congestion will seriously curtail the ability to come and go during the hours of 7:00 -10:00 a.m. and 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. I really don’t know of anyone who says how excited they are that there is a three story apartment buildings going in behind them so that their view of open space is severely limited and privacy lost. When this area was explained to us as perspective homebuyers, the area in question was slated to be commercial and we envisioned a place where we could walk to a shop for coffee or perhaps to get our hair cut or medical facilities or whatever and would not have to resort to driving our cars. In other words, we thought the developers of this area wanted to make it a true community. This area is very new and we were some of the first to move into The Village in Movado and we have met some wonderful people who have moved here. However, some of those same wonderful people are calling their realtors to see what else is available. Others have looked on this as their forever home and don’t want to move or they find it financially difficult to do so. Please don’t let Meridian lose its charm and develop into a sprawl of people and traffic where no-one knows your name. Thank you for listening. Kaye and Rick Gilchrist 1976 S.
