Dear Sir/Madame,
I am writing to express my concern over the proposed multi-family development (cited in the subject line) on Overland
Road, to the West of South Movado Way.
I want to be clear that I do not approve of this plan in either option (A or B).
To understand why, I must confess to feeling a bit foolish.
When we bought into the Movado Village Community, we were told that there were some apartments planned for that
space, but that there would also be commercial retail as well. We imagined the ability to take a short walk to visit,
perhaps, a barber shop, restaurant or dry cleaners.
Recently, however, I was made aware that the original plans had changed. The approved apartment complex was now
essentially doubled--from low 100s to above 200 units and about 400 parking places. This complex has an access road
into South Movado Way, which is our communities' Grand Entrance.
Even worse, I learned that there would be no commercial development--only apartments.
Also, because there is no access in and out of our community onto Cloverdale, this one thoroughfare, South Movado
Way, would now have to accommodate our communities (Village, Estates and Greens) PLUS 400 more cars from the
proposed multifamily development. With the additional development off Overland (S. Silverstone Way), and the already
busy Overland Road traffic, we are seriously wondering whether we can reliably and safely use S. Movado Way.
In short: With only one way in, this plan adds too many people, too many cars and too little open spaces. Plus, it will
dramatically affect our investment into one of Meridian's newest communities.
My family and I are against this development and are hopeful that the ORIGINAL PLAN can be restored, namely, half the
apartments and the opportunity for commercial properties to be developed. That would improve our lifestyle, our home
values, and Meridian's reputation for being a walkable-friendly city.
Thank you for your time listening to my concerns. I appreciate any help and consideration you can provide!
