Subject:Adera Project - NW Corner of Ustick/Linder
I am writing to state my objection to the proposed project at Linder and Ustick on the following grounds:
This proposed project would put a large storage facility with the potential of generating trips for trucks and
trailers right next to the Five Mile Creek regional pathway and across from Sawtooth Middle School where
students are walking daily.
It is a corner lot on two major roads. Why should this highly visible corner be subjected to becoming a storage
facility? It seems like a better use would be something that functions with the network of pathways and parks
being planned in Meridian. Neighborhood retail/office would be nice. The proposed project itself
acknowledges that in is right next to a regional pathway. Of the 9 current and under construction storage
facilities within a two mile area, none are located at a major road intersection. I’m sure the other residents in
the immediate area would prefer to have something else that would add amenities that enhance property
value for their neighborhood.
Perhaps in the future large residential developments could be required to provide creative storage solutions
within their own footprint.
As to the apartments in the proposed project. Adding a few dense apartments with no open space beyond a
parking strip of grass does not make a quality mixed use development. Is there a bus route along the
development to serve the occupants? What good is density that has no connection to current transit plans?
Please deny this proposed project.
Thank for your consideration.
