My name is Penny Fisher and I live at 2382 W Apgar Creek Dr in Meridian. I want to put in writing that I strongly oppose
this development. This is not a good use of the available property lot. I could mention how this project would affect
school crowding but that is West Ada School District’s area and issue. I could mention how this project would affect the
traffic on Goddard as well as Apgar Creek but that is Ada County’s area and issue. I could mention how this would affect
property values but this is Meridian City Assessor’s area and issue so I will focus strictly on your area and issue right now
as Planning and Zoning.
When Meridian City was set up there was a master plan and that master plan has been used over the years to create th e
optimal living atmosphere and land use here in Meridian. In the Master plan are areas designated as
neighborhoods. When Lochsa Falls neighborhood, which covers the ONE SQUARE MILE between Linder and Ten Mile
and Chinden and McMillian, single family homes were planned, commercial use was planned as well as multifamily
dwellings were planned. At that time it was determined that the best use of the land was to have a certain ratio of
commercial, single family homes and multifamily homes. Homes were built and the Selway Apartments were built
fulfilling that predetermined single family to multifamily ratio.
If this project is allowed to go through not only will it be angering surrounding residents who purchased their properties
after consulting with the master plan, but it will also go against the very master plan created. I urge you to vote no to
this project and no to the rezoning. Please stick to the master plan allowing our ONE SQUARE MILE neighborhood to
remain in the original balance of single family homes to multifamily homes and to not disrupt that balance.
Thank you,
Penny Fisher
