Subject:Application: Goddard Creek Townhomes MDA, PP, RZ, PS (H-2019-0068)
To all Meridian city council members and all concerned,
As a home owner in the Kelly Creek neighborhood, I am writing to express my opposition to the proposed town home
development at the northwest corner of McMillan and Goddard Creek in Meridian.
This development will require a re-zoning of the land. Previous proposals for re-zoning for the same type of
development have been rejected by the city council. I ask that you do the same for this proposal. It is no different than
any previous proposals, and should be denied for all the same reasons.
The Kelly Creek neighborhood already has the high density rental community Selway Apartments situated immediately
adjacent to the proposed townhouse development. Additional high density rental housing right next to the apartments
is an unreasonable use of the land. With access to the proposed townhouses from Goddard Creek and Apgar
Creek/Selway Rapids lane, the entrance to the neighborhood will be overwhelmed with apartment traffic, townhouse
traffic, and home owner traffic all using the same access. Perhaps an even bigger concern is the impact on local
schools. Bringing in higher density residential to the area will only add to the burden of already overcrowded schools.
I acknowledge the effort and desire by the developer to use this particular piece of land. However, zoning dictates a
different development. With the upcoming Costco development, as well as Winco at Linder Village, the city MUST
carefully consider the flood of traffic in such close proximity to so much development.
I would not object to a lower density development, with access to the property directly from McMillan, and not from
Goddard Creek or Apgar Creek. For example, 22 single family, owner occupied homes in lieu of 44 rental townhouses.
As it is proposed by SI construction, I strongly oppose the development of 44 townhouses, with access from Goddard
Creek and Apgar Creek.
Thank you very much for your careful consideration of our neighborhood integrity, and quality of life of the local
residents and home owners.
Sincerely,
Bennett Hadden
