PZ- Narrative for UDC amendment application 2019The proposed update is meant to modify certain sections of the Unified Development Code (UDC) as
follows:
1. UDC 11-1-11 (B)(3) (Method of Service): The proposed changes would make the Unified
Development Code read in line with the Meridian City Code as it relates to methods of service
when making notification of violations.
2. UDC 11-1A-1 (Definitions): The proposed change would add definitions for; Accessory Use-
Residential, Foot-candle, Light trespass, Lumen, Mobile tiny houses and Personal property.
3. UDC 11-3A-11 (Outdoor Lighting): The proposed changes would; make the section enforceable
as it relates to light trespass, identify units of measure as they relate to lighting and how they
will be used to document light trespass and reduce an overly broad exemption given to light
fixtures. Updated and higher quality images would replace figures 1 and 2.
4. UDC 11-3A-14 (Outdoor Storage): The proposed changes would; add “personal property” to the
list of regulated storage items, further outline how to identify nuisance, blight and acoustic
impact, and identify “Accessory Use- Residential.”
5. UDC 11-3A-20 (Travelling Sleeping Quarters): The proposed changes would; make the title and
definition use the same language and add “Mobile tiny houses” to the definition.
6. UDC 11-3C-4 (Parking Standards): The proposed change would eliminate a current loop hole
that allows the display of fictitious plates on unregistered vehicles parked in the required street
yard.
