PROJECT NAME: Gander Creek Sub
POLICE DEPARTMENT SUMMARY OF REPORT:
1. Police Response Time- The proposed Gander Creek development application is approximately 8.5
miles from the Meridian Police Department. The expected response time to this area in an emergency is
roughly 5-7 minutes.
There is no statistical data to provide for this development at this time as this area is currently in Ada
County. In the vicinity of this proposed development there are several other approved projects just now
starting to come on line which will include Owyhee High School to the north, a future elementary school
to the north and currently the Oaks West & Oaks North is under development to the east of this location.
The Meridian Police Department expects calls for service to increase slowly over time in this geographic
area as this project and others nearby are completed. When factoring in the proposed future Highway 16
construction this area will see increased traffic over time.
2. Accessibility — The Meridian Police Department has no issues with access to the proposed site as
shown in the application documents. The applicant has agreed to build a secondary access to the Owyhee
High School development during the construction of phase 2 of the Gander Creek Development. The
Meridian Police Department would ask that this secondary access be completed and usable prior to the
CO being issued for Owyhee High School.
The Meridian Police Department will support any and all Traffic Impact Study requirements from ITD
and or ACHD to improve roadways, intersections, pathways and sidewalks before the project if fully
completed.
3. Resource needs — No additional resources are needed at this time. The Meridian Police Department
already services the area directly to the east of this application in the Oaks West and Oaks North.
4. Other comments- The Meridian Police Department has no outstanding issues concerning this
development application.
The Meridian Police Department will support any and all Traffic Impact Studies from ITD and or ACHD
to improve roadways, intersections, pathways and sidewalks before the project if fully completed.
In addition, with several new schools coming on line in this area and a future Highway 16 expansion the
Meridian Police Department does have a strong need to have a satellite police station somewhere in this
geographic area in the future. This would reduce response times to this fast growing area.
