Jay Coles, City Clerk Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council City of Meridian RE: Three Corners Ranch ALT, AZ, PP, PS, H-2019-0006 1890 E. Dunwoody Cr. Meridian, Idaho Dear Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council, We knew when we bought our home on Barclay St. over 10 years ago that someday, the roads would push through and connect our neighborhoods. We researched it and found a plan was already approved. It looked reasonable to us, as we support having a connected, integrated community. Per that plan the roads that stubbed into the field would all share the traffic of any new homes. So, I was completely shocked to walk into the meeting in the field on October 29', 2018 to hear the proposal that "Barclay would take the hit" so that others can live on dead end roads and in a new private gated community and that Barclay alone would act as a funnel for ALL the traffic not only the 44 new homes, but also for the homes between the Three Corners development and Chinden. This seems unfair. If there needs to be a single main entrance, due to the desire for a private, gated community, then Dunwoody or Three Corners Drive are the obvious choices, not Barclay St. which feeds deeper into the neighborhood. Dunwoody Ct and is a shorter route than via Barclay St with only 11 homes that are set far back from the road that leads directly to Locust Grove. The distance from the new homes to a main road through Dunwoody is about 1,700 feet. The distance through Bristol Heights is 3,200 feet, which is nearly twice the distance. 11 homes on Dunwoody would be affected vs. the 18 on Barclay St plus all the additional homes affected on Bristol Heights Drive. Three Corners Drive provides an approach of 1,550 feet to the new development. This was an obvious potential entrance to the new development. However, under the proposed materials, that pathway is designated an 'emergency access only' forcing even more traffic down Barclay. In addition to the traffic from the new development, Three Corners Drive is the closest route for the homes on Shandee Dr, which will get cut off from Chinden when Chinden get widened. If that access is cut off, even more traffic will be forced down Barclay St. That is just wrong. It is our thinking that the burden of new traffic should be shared. Please do not funnel so much more traffic onto our quiet street. Our driveways are short, forcing residence to back onto the road. This plan puts undue burden onto Barclay St. Thank you for considering our input. There was a boy on a skateboard hit recently on N Bennington Way. We don't want to see even more accidents. It seems only fair to share the burden of the increased traffic. Sincerely, Renee Jessome Darrin McLean 14473 W Barclay St Boise, ID 83713
