2019-02-25 Alan and Debra JurgensThank you for taking the time to consider my letter regarding Dunwoody Court /Three Corners Ranch proposal being brought up March 3rd to the committee. Dunwoody's concerns are mostly safety. Dunwoody, unlike Bristol Heights , Vienna Woods, or Three corners addition is a county road. (photos of each entrance are attached) These show the sidewalks , lighting, and wider roads to accommodate two sides of busy traffic that is being considered for the Three Corners Ranch. Dunwoody doesn't have sidewalks for the children to walk home from school or visit other neighboring children. People walk on the street to walk their dogs, take walks, and the children ride their bikes down our street. We also have a tennis court that the neighborhood shares that people walk to play. It is not only our neighborhood that enjoys these activities but other neighborhoods surrounding us that enjoy the serene atmosphere of country living and choose Dunwoody for their evening summer strolls. Dunwoody has no lighting which makes for a very dark and winding road in early mornings and evenings. The homes are set back so the lights from the houses don't illuminate the road either for the driver to see a pedestrian in a timely manner. Dunwoody has two blind curves, especially when a utility truck or weekly lawn care workers are parked along side the road. This occurs weekly if not daily in our neighborhood and has raised as an issue that we all must watch. (pictures of curves) are attached) . We discuss these issues in our yearly meeting and all of Dunwoody (15 homes) respect these issues and are reminded each year to safety concerns. This would not occur when another neighborhood is attached to our street as a thorough fare and add 80+ cars, considering 2 each home being the minimum. Another concern is Dunwoody, being a county road, is not as wide as a normal city street. and would become an issue with the amount of traffic Three Corners is suggesting. Each of the other entrances and roads meet the requirements for lights, sighted ability to see pedestrians, and are straight entrances into the Three Corners Ranch proposal. We urge the committee to look at these hazards for the safety of our children and people who walk our neighborhood. Accidents happen every day. Please do not let it be one of our young citizens because there is a desired entrance onto Dunwoody from Three Corners Ranch, especially when there are other options better suited for safe entrance and thoroughfare. We understand the growing need for housing. We are simply asking for consideration for safety to be priority, when deciding these entrances onto a road without sidewalks, proper width and lighting for our children and other pedestrians. Dunwoody understands the need for a thoroughfare for fire and police safety for these homes and we do not object to a baluster entrance for the city services. We would not object to having a baluster as the Dunwoody entrance, restricting the extra traffic from the addition onto Dunwoody that is being proposed today. We believe offering 80+ cars from Three Corners Ranch onto our short street is asking for a disaster to happen, perhaps a loss to life, and is the wrong decision. We hope you will too. Please do not put that on your shoulders when you make this decision. It is simply a question of when ,not if, it would occur, if you choose this particular plan for Three Corners Ranch/Dunwoody. Please, consider the hazards carefully. We believe we speak for the entire Dunwoody Ct neighborhood.
