2019-02-25 Meridian Police DepartmentDATE: 2/24/2019 TO: Stephanie Leonard REVIEWER: Lieutenant Scott Colaianni SUBJECT: H-2019-0006 PROJECT NAME: Three Corners Ranch POLICE DEPARTMENT SUMMARY OF REPORT: 1. Police Response Time- The Three Corners Ranch proposed development is approximately 5 miles from the Meridian Police Department. The expected response time to this area in an emergency is about 6 minutes which is 2 minutes higher than the average emergency response time in the Meridian. Between 1/1/2018-12/31/2018 responded to 111 calls for service within a mile of this proposed development. The most frequent calls types were prowlers, alarms and suspicious vehicles. There were 20 reported crashes within a mile of the proposed development. Of those 55% were injury related. See attached document for more details. 2. Accessibility — The proposed development is planned on being a "gated" community so emergency access will need to be provided to fire and police using either a Key Pad Code, Opticom Sensor and or Knox Box to allow timely access. This will need to be address prior to any CO's being issued in the development. 3. Resource needs — No additional resources are needed. The police department already services this area. 4. Other comments- All qualified open space provided in the development to include all amenities must be in an open area in order to allow for natural surveillance opportunities of public areas. Pathways and landscaping should not create hiding spots or blind spots to would promote criminal opportunities. Priority Response Times Defined: Priority 0 type calls are no priority type of calls. Priority 1 type calls are for non -emergency type of calls where the officer will arrive at the earliest convenience, and Priority 2 type calls require an urgent response where the officer will arrive as soon as practical, and should obey all traffic laws.
