Re: STAPLETON by Blackrock Homes
Mayor Tammy de Weerd,
I feel it is important to share with you and the city council, my perspective and
thoughts on future developments like the SoVi neighborhood. I purchased a
home in SoVi neighborhood in May 2017. I am grateful that I had the option to
purchase a single family home that I could afford. This was only possible
because of the niche that the SoVi development provides. I am divorced women
with four children. As a single parent, the options to choose from in Meridian to fit
my family size are either renting an apartment for almost double what I currently
pay for my mortgage or a single family home in a traditional subdivision with
square footage above 2,000 and a price that is well above what my income can
afford. The developments like SoVi allow people in a new phase of life an
opportunity to own their own single family home without going beyond what is
possible to afford. My neighbors are people who are in a new phase of life. They
have gone through a divorce or are a first time home buyers or older couples
looking to downsize from the homes they have lived in raising their families. The
number of people who fit this category are not decreasing as time goes on.
Having an option like SoVi gives people the possibility of home ownership, but
without the overwhelming burden of a larger home and with a larger mortgage
payment to shoulder especially if they are entering one of those new phases of
life.
Please consider the importance of having options like SoVi available for others.
Each day I come home, I am so grateful for my own home. It is a place where my
kids have the space they need to feel comfortable and happy and that is most
important to me.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Porter

To Whom it may Concern;
We are just sending a short note to say that we lived at 2174 E Ringneck St in Meridian.
We bought this home last year and we LOVED living at the Verado development. We
enjoyed living in a quiet neighborhood yet close to the Big city of Boise. We lived in a
"twin home" style house, yet we cannot even hear our next door neighbor at all. We
enjoyed being able to walk our dog Zoe without any traffic along our neighborhood
street. The Verado playground is across the street and we enjoyed watching the children
play and have fun in a safe environment.
We would enjoy having this neighborhood expanded for the enjoyment of all living there.
It is fun to walk around this development of Verado and meet new and lasting friends.
We Truly thank the city of Meridian for allowing this development to be built and look
forward to more like it !
Sincerely,
Evan & Analyn Frasure

Tammy de Weerd
Mayor
City of Meridian
Dear Mayor de Weerd,
I am writing on behalf of Blackrock Homes, the developer desiring to build homes in
Stapleton. A couple years ago we purchased one of their homes near Eagle and
Fairview, in the Solterra community. We understand they are seeking to build
similar style homes as in our neighborhood.
We truly love our home and our community! Moving here from a very large city and
never living anywhere else, we did not know what to expect. We fell in love! For
one, they did not “nickel and dime” us with upgrades/options. They offered nice
finishes throughout at no additional cost! Our home is one of the attached models
and smaller in square feet, but I tell people it’s the biggest little home you will ever
see. It’s well designed with such a nice layout. There's more storage space than
you could imagine, and good-sized rooms.
Most of our neighbors look out for one another. We shovel snow for each other,
check in on one another, share our cooking skills by exchanging goodies, and make
sure the neighborhood stays picked up. We came here from our home town of Las
Vegas, and having been there our whole lives, have never had such a sense of
community as we do here. It’s wonderful!
I will end in saying just how grateful we are to have found this community. We
truly wore ourselves out looking for the right home and almost ended up back home
with our tail between our legs. But when we finally walked into this home, we knew
it was the one!!
Sincerely,
Sandy and Randy Nelson
