Regarding the Buyrite LLC Apartments request for re- zoning the corner of Ustick Rd. and Linder, #9 Action items, F for the Dec. 18 meeting - F. Public Hearing for BuVrite LLC Apartments (H-2018-0096) by neUdesign Architecture, LLC, Loc. I am attaching two recent news articles regarding density. Both are from the Press Telegram newspaper. The Police Report states unquestionably that higher density has already lead to more crime here in the form of code violations in the denser areas of the sity. The other article is regarding a grant for family housing of victims of domestic violence in a different city. Even the state of Idaho Financing Association is only granting for a density of 30 units on 3 acres. I am also reiterating my statement from the Nov. 15 meeting below. Population density is a known contributor to the degradation of quality of life. Thank you for this opportunity. Robin Brooks, 2999 N. Glennfield Way, Meridian, ID 83646 tel. 208-577-6894 My statement from the Nov. 15 Planning Meeting: 1. This plan is way too dense and inappropriate for our area 2. It will lead to hugely increased traffic, air pollution, noise, graffiti and increased pressure on public services. Increased traffic leads to road rage, speeding and frustration. 3. Increased density of trash collection will bring rats and other vermin, and lead to littering. 4. Lack of ability of paved land to absorb rain runoff increases risk of flooding. This rainfall will not reach the water table to replenish it. And if it does, it will be contaminated with oil and gasoline debris. 5. there will be problems with snow abatement. 6. There is no place for kids to play - which results in behavioral problems 7. Any property tax payments will be offset by paying for more - far more - for public services 8. Air pollution - specifically what is spewed out of these residences. This includes chemicals from clothes dryer sheets which emit 10 known carcinogens well-known by the EPA but outside the jurisdiction of air pollution authorities because the perfume industry is exempt from the laws that protect us. Increased heat in the area from the number of chimneys is part of the climate change problem in cities and can be avoided right now. 9. Increased density will lower all our individual property values. 10. This project is way too close to a school, with all that traffic danger, and congestion, noise, pollution, etc etc. and the long-term effect on young people. 11. Quality of life issues: Our view of the mountains will be obscured. Too much lighting at night will cause sleep deprivation and anxiety. 12. People are already feeling less safe here. This is a general sentiment I am hearing all over. On 12/17/2018 12:19 PM, Chris Johnson wrote: Ms. Brooks, Thank you for your call. It was a pleasure speaking with you.
