Re: Alpina Townhouse Subdivision Rezoning
To The Meridian Planning and Zoning Commission:
This writing is to express our concern for the subject Alpina Townhouse Subdivision that are
seeking your approval for rezoning of the existing Small Commercial Development site on the
northeast corner of Linder Road and Ustick Road in our City.
1) Our schools are currently overcrowded, therein already negatively affecting the quality of
education for the students of our city.
2) Traffic is already a major problem without there being an additional 96 housing from the
Buyright Project, PLUS another 60 units for this additional Alpina Sundivision being added. Yes,
Ustick Road east -bound from the Linder/Ustick intersection has recently been widened, but Linder
has not yet been widened, although planned. However, there are no published plans for Ustick to
be widened west -bound from Linder. It is not uncommon during the commute hours that traffic is
backed up the entire mile between Ten Mile Road and Linder on Ustick. Furthermore, we live in
the Bridgetower Community immediately west of the proposed Buyright LLC Apartments and
Alpina Townhouses and our primary access to Ustick is via Towerbridge Road and it's already
often unsafe to enter onto Ustick with all of the traffic.
3) The current zoning for the site for Small Commercial Development is long overdue to be
developed as -is. Based on the demand that already exists from the existing homes (our home in
Bridgetower just 2 blocks from the Ustick/Towerbridge intersection was built 16 years ago in
2002). Hundreds of new homes have been built since 2002 within a one mile radius of Linder and
Ustick, and are long overdue for the services that a Linder/Ustick Small Commercial Development
would provide to our community, NOT 96 rentals units!
Please maintain the original plans to develop this Linder/Ustick site for Small Commercial
Development.
Please do not grant the Buyright LLC Apartments or Alpina Townhouses for project approval.
Thank you.
