Subject: Fw: DevCo's application to amend Meridian's code (H-2018-0059)
Good morning, Mr. Parsons!
I am a member of the Meridian Southern Rim Coalition (MSRC) and I would like to express my concern
regarding the above amendment request. As you may be aware, the MSRC opposes the H-2018-0059
amendment request for multiple reasons including, but not limited to, the impact it will have to density based
on the significant change to setbacks and the impact to common space (which we already feel is at a minimum
for livability purposes). In addition, I believe the naming convention recommended by DevCo would be
unnecessarily confusing to the general public as it has no connection to the actual definition of the space...
I feel strongly that the new Comprehensive Plan - which the City Council and Mayor have devoted hours and
significant taxpayer dollars to - should determine whether the code changes are appropriate for the
community, not vice versa. In addition, I believe the Plan should take into consideration the multiple concerns
brought forward from the recent surveys of the Meridian citizens regarding density, livability and unrestricted
growth, not just the large businesses.
For the above reasons, I cannot support the amendment request and respectfully ask that you follow the advise
of your Staff and decline it as well.
Thank you for your consideration.
