Subject:Public Hearing Notice BuyRite LLC
The intent of this email is to serve as opposition of an application by BuyRite LLC apartments to convert
acurrently zoned C-C area to an R-40. The land in question sits at the corner of W. Ustick and N. Linder
Roads in Meridian, Idaho.
As a homeowner in the Tumble Creek subdivision, I am adamantly opposed to the acceptance of the
application which would allow multi-family housing to be built on this land.
Meridian, Idaho has experienced tremendous growth recently. With growth comes increased
traffic, subsequent increases in taxes, as well as increased crime due to the increased population. An
apartment complex brings an even higher increase in crime due to most complexes having more than one
entrance/exit; such structures become an easier target for criminals. In addition, multi-family structures
have a higher likelihood of transient residents resulting in decreased familiarity with the neighboring
residents; decreasing the social network created by stable home ownership in established
subdivisions. Previous studies have correlated that stable home environments driven by stable
homeowners is more highly indicative of stable successful juveniles. Having a stable, less mobile
(transient) community fosters a positive social network for children, decreasing the likelihood of juvenile
crimes.
If Meridian, Idaho is to continue to remain on the top Best Places to live in the state of Idaho, we need to
continue to oppose ventures that will be a detriment to the citizens that support and love their
community.
I strongly urge you to Oppose the rezoning of the respective property, and stop the urban sprawl which is
killing the community.
Sincerely,
Michelle Mattson
