Sue and Mike Fillman1 Chris Johnson From:Susan Fillman <suefillman@live.com> Sent:Tuesday, July 24, 2018 11:18 AM To:City Clerk Subject:Modification to Development Agreement for Costco I will preface these comments with my continuing objection to changes in the Comprehensive Plan, changes that allow the construction of Costco at the corner of Chinden and Ten Mile. In no way is this development "...compatible with other uses in the general neighborhood and with the existing or intended character of the general vicinity." And, "... such use will adversely change the essential character..." of our neighborhood. It is a bad decision. It's a sad thing when residents can't rely on what was given by the City to understand the vision for our own neighborhood. The plan seems to mean very little. City Council failed in its duty to its citizens by not protecting existing residential properties from incompatible land use development on the adjacent parcels. Costco has submitted a Modification to its Development Agreement and held a meeting in June to which few neighbors were invited. The only individuals who signed in were from the engineering firm or the developer, not a single person who objected to this project was personally notified. With that in mind, who could have provided the "comments" posted on the various design elements saying things like "I like the..."? They did not come from the neighbors. The proposed building is unattractive and in no way blends with the surrounding community. The structure should better match the color schemes and construction materials utilized in the hundreds of homes that surround it. There are other locations in Meridian where coordinating the exterior materials would not have been such an issue but when you allow it in the middle of solidly residential neighborhoods it should blend. Please do not approve the changes as submitted. Sue & Mike Fillman 6550 N Lonicera Way Meridian, ID
