City Council Members:
I would like to voice my concern with the planned construction of the Summertown Subdivision apartments that
are proposed for Ustick and S. Venable. I would like you to know that as a long-time resident of Meridian, this
sort of large apartment complex is the last sort of thing I would like to see happen to our beautiful City of
Meridian.
This is extremely disappointing to me that it is even being considered in our already overflowing
city. Allowing a large apartment complex like this will not only attract a large amount of traffic into an area
where there is already an apartment complex next door to the proposed sight. Which in turn, causes for already
overflowing schools and traffic to get worse and. My family would like to see this planned stopped. We do not
want to live next to this. I am concerned with the high volume of vehicles that will be entering and exiting this
complex, which will inevitably be using my subdivision entrance at times as well. This increase in traffic right
across the street from Settlers Park is a safety concern for me. I used to allow my children to walk to the park,
and now this is only making things worse.
I realize that growth and improvements are happening all around us, but this is not an improvement! Having a 4
story apartment complex right next to my subdivision is a huge disappointment and not something I would like
to see our lovely city allow to happen. I hope that you take the good of the community into account. We cannot
handle anymore overgrowth in this immediate area than we already have. This is not the place for a 4 story high
2
complex and is not accepted by the neighbors of the proposed sight. Please use this space for something that can
better the community, like the 55+ community that was originally planned here.
I realize the city of Meridian is not the same place as it was when I moved here in 1990. But, I do take pride in
living in this city and living in a place with some wonderful resources, where I can raise my kids and be proud
to call my home. Please continue to make the people of Meridian proud by not allowing the proposed
construction of Summertown Subdivision apartments!
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Kelli Dalley
