To the Meridian City Council,
My name is Cathie Thurgood and I am writing to express my concern regarding the re zoning proposal for
Cherry Blossom Place.
I was born and raised in the Treasure Valley and have chosen to raise my family here in Welker Subdivision. I
love the quiet feel and surroundings of this neighborhood even though we are in the heart of Meridian.
My biggest concern is the safety of the children who walk back and forth to school each weekday. Re zoning to
R8 will significantly increase the number of vehicles traveling up and down W 7th and other streets in this area.
There is already a safety issue due to the curvature of the road and the school crossing located on W 7th exactly
where the new subdivision lies. Adding even more traffic will only increase the likelihood of an injury to a child
or worse.
This decision is a great opportunity for you, the City Council, to let our community know our children and
families are more important than monetary gain.
I respectfully request you deny this proposal.
