Scott Kirchmar1 Christopher Johnson From:Scott Kirchmar <kirchmar@hotmail.com> Sent:Monday, April 02, 2018 10:54 PM To:City Clerk Subject:Lost Rapids H-2018-0004 application Members of City Council, I am writing today to state my objection to the proposed Costco at Chinden and Ten Mile. When searching for our home last spring we considered many factors including school boundaries, zoning, and neighborhood to name a few. When we found a home we liked i n Spurwing Greens with a lot that backed up to Chinden I called the ITD and spoke to an engineer at length regarding the plans for Chinden. I reviewed numerous pages of all the studies and proposals regarding plans for widening and how that could affect the property. We ensured that the property was in the school district that our children were currently attending at the time. We checked the land use designation for the empty field directly behind us and across Chinden to make sure that future construction was something suitable to what we would want to have in our backyard. After all of this we decided to purchase our home. We are very disappointed now to learn of the possibility of such a project after our exhaustive research demonstrated such a usage was not designated. Had we had any idea that this type of proposal could be approved we would have chosen to live elsewhere. Unfortunately for us it is too late to make our decision using the current information. We strongly urge you to reject the proposal and preserve the designation of the land as it is today. Protect our ability to enjoy our backyard with our children without excess noise, traffic, and pollution. Please uphold the current designation in order to add value and keep Meridian a place that continues to be at the top of national lists of best places to live.
