Dear City Council,
As a resident near the proposed Costco location, I a very concerned about the Costco Warehouse
going in near the residential area of Chinden and 10-Mile. It will create a horrible traffic problem in
that area, both on Chinden, and in the immediate neighborhoods. There are also environmental
concerns about the fuel station. A big concern is safety of nearby residents, especially children. I'm
also concerned about tax payers having to pay for widening of the roads. There will also be a
probable reduction in home values in the area. I am especially concerned about the residents who
have just recently purchased homes in the immediate area without knowing of this potential
situation. This area was not originally planned to be a commercial zone, and that original plan should
be honored.
Please consider stopping this plan immediately. I would like to see another Costco come into the
area, but not a this location. If Costco is hoping to include residents in Star and Middleton, then why
not consider the area further out west on Chinden, such as at the junction with highway 16, without
impacting so many local residents? Another area for consideration wou ld be further south on 10 mile,
such as the area near 10 mile and Franklin. They need to be located away from local neighborhoods.
Thank you for your consideration.
