Subject: RE: Proposed Apartments at Ustick/Venable
Dear Meridian City Council,
I recently moved my family from out of state to Meridian, Idaho to live in a town with open space and not traffic
everywhere I go. However, since i moved here, 6 months ago, all I continue to see and hear about is the high
density apartment buildings that seem to be being planned for every major neighborhood. This makes me so sad.
The reason we moved here was for less traffic, less congestion and more open spaces.
The City of Meridian can't handle the rapid pace at which you are approving builders and developers to build new
high density apartment and new home construction. Most of the streets are constantly filled with cars stuck at red
lights because there is so much traffic already here. The two lane roads can't handle more cars and our schools are
so overcrowded already. Yes, the school district just passed a bond to add new schools ; however, that is based on
the current overcrowded numbers. If you continue to allow developers to build more homes the schools will always
be overcrowded!

Meridian is not a major city it is a town. I moved here because of that. I don't want to live with tons of people, cars,
traffic and congestion. As the people elected to represent our views, you need to slow and stop the constant growth
and development in town until you have a plan to help with the roads. Also, high density apartment living is not
needed in Meridian. We already have plenty of large apartment complexes and with that thought I ask you to deny
the change in the plan for the apartments planned near Ustick/Venable. The original plan for senior housing is what
should remain.
Just one block away (Meridian/McMillan) there are currently 280 other apartment units being built which is going to
become a traffic nightmare for the area. Adding another 200 apartments to a close by area is crazy! Think of how
overcrowded our schools already are and how much traffic already exists in these areas. Can you imagine what
adding 400 more apartments is going to do? This city can't handle this rapid growth and it needs to stop NOW!
Please make smarter decisions for the City of Meridian. Stop and /or slow down this rapid growth and don't allow
any more High Density Apartment buildings to be built until road infrastructure is fixed and schools are added to
accommodate the growth. Don't allow this once small town with slow paced living to become like every other major
US city with tons of traffic and congestion. Keep Meridian with its small town feel and allow the residents to have
more say in what type of growth happens.
Thank You for your support,
Sincerely,
